Laughs for Life returns for an evening of comedic relief and fundraising on Thursday, September 9, 5:00-7:30 pm. This online event benefits San Francisco Suicide Prevention (SFSP) and includes a virtual happy hour featuring stand-up comedy sets, burlesque performances, and musical acts.
Emceeing and headlining Laughs for Life is standup comedian Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, host of StorySlam and the Moth Storytelling. The show also features performances by Kellz "Jokenword" Barkdale, bawdy guitar man Jefferson Bergey, burlesque performer Joanna Animal, fembassador Maria Konner, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and other surprise guests.
Since launching the Crisis Line nearly sixty years ago, SFSP has expanded their services to a variety of support services. They provide crisis counseling, emotional support, suicide prevention education to community partners and SFSD schools, grief support groups, linkages to resources, and life-saving intervention for those in our community needing immediate safety response services. Laugh for Life aims to bring the community together to celebrate the positive impact of the agency's work and keep the programs free to the community.
