Virtual Workshop: The Hatchery: Nurturing Creative Writers of Color

Monthly writing workshop providing a safe, supportive space for self-identified writers of color to explore race, class, culture, gender and identity. We welcome all ages and all ranges of writers, from beginning to seasoned professionals, working in any genre.



Work at your own pace to develop your unique voice and style in a warm, multicultural workshop setting. Bring writing to share, write to prompts, or just come and listen.

Moderated by Shizue Seigel, Japanese American writer, artist and editor of the community anthologies Civil Liberties United (2019), Endangered Species, Enduring Values (2018) and Standing Strong! Fillmore & Japantown (2016).

Meets the second Tuesday of the month.
