Get in the Halloween spirit with the San Francisco-based Hitchcock classic thriller, Vertigo. Before the movie join us for a Halloween costume party!

Costume party begins at 5:30pm. Screening begins at 7pm.

VERTIGO (1958) - Scottie Ferguson (James Stewart) , a retired San Francisco police detective suffering from an extreme fear of heights, is hired by an old college friend to shadow his wife Madeleine (Kim Novak), who is experiencing a sort of spiritual possession and who might be suicidal. Jimmy Stewart delivers one of his best and certainly his darkest performances and Kim Novak is effectively chilly and elusive as a mysteriously haunted woman on the brink of madness. This moody, complex, and hypnotic film is one of director Alfred Hitchcock's finest works. Shot with brilliant use of color, the film still has the most quintessential images of the Golden Gate Bridge ever put on screen and works as a terrific travelogue to the 1950s San Francisco Bay Area. Plotted with meticulously constructed pacing, and underscored by Bernard Hermann's ominous music score, Vertigo is a twisted and sumptuous journey into insanity and obsession. In 2012, Vertigo replaced Citizen Kane as "the best film ever made" in the British Film Institute's Sight & Sound critics' poll. For the past two decades, Vertigo has consistently appeared in the American Film Institute's ranking as one of the Top Ten Great American Movies of All Time.
