SEE EVENT DETAILS
On January 18th, 12:00 pm PST, SFCDUG welcomes Luca Giaramidaro and Guangyue Cao from Perkins+Will. This month's meeting will be hosted at the AIA 30 Sutter St # 600, San Francisco, CA 94104Featured Presentation:
Urban Development Capacity: design process, workflow, and tools
Assessment of the development potential within the existing urban fabric requires designers to efficiently manage and analyze large sets of spatial and geographical data. What tools and processes can be used to effectively assess the potential development capacity of multiple opportunity sites?
Using the BART Phase II Corridor in San Jose as a case study, the presentation will illustrate the design process, workflow, and tools adopted for transit-oriented development analysis. With a combination of GIS, Excel, Grasshopper and machine learning, the Perkins+Will team successfully employed an iterative design process to rapidly identify, measure, and assess multiple development scenarios.
Luca Giaramidaro is an Architect, Urban Designer and Planner at Perkins+Will, providing design, planning, and programmatic services for a diverse range of projects, including large-scale mixed-use, infill and brownfield urban development, mixed-use regeneration and transportation enhancement. Luca works in California, throughout the U.S. and internationally, including Asia, South America and the Middle East. Before moving to the US, Luca obtained his Doctorate degree in Sustainable Design from Sapienza University of Rome.
