In November 2016, California voters approved Prop 64, legalizing marijuana for recreational use. Over the course of 2017, cities around the state prepared for the state prepared for the new industry. Managing issues like public safety, small business and tax impact, and equity related to past cannabis laws are all on the table for dicussion as the state moves towards a new future for marijuana.
