UnChained Writers: A Benefit Evening for Local Nonprofit UnChained

The Capitola Book Cafe is thrilled to host a special event for the local nonprofit organization, UnChained. This event recognizes UnChained and its Canines Teaching Compassion Program that helps change the lives of kids and save the lives of dogs by matching at-risk youth and shelter dogs together. Bestselling author Laurie R. King, SC Poet Laureate David Swanger, Poetry Santa Cruz director Len Anderson, Rabbi Paula Marcus and other local writers will be in attendance to read from their own works as well as from the writings of the young program participants who clicker-train their canine companions. 10% of Capitola Book Cafe sales and all donations collected will go directly towards the purchase of a much needed van to transport the dogs from area shelters to the kids.
