Ethan Casey of Seattle and Bill Steigerwald of Pittsburgh, veteran journalists, will appear together at Capitola Book Cafe at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, to tell their unique stories and promote their American road books. Casey's Home Free and Steigerwald's Dogging Steinbeck, both serious works of nonfiction, are enlightening, provocative and lively first-person accounts of their separate coast-to-coast travels and their impressions of America and its people. Steigerwald's book "Dogging Steinbeck" also tells how he discovered that "Travels With Charley" was not a work of nonfiction but a dishonest and highly fictionalized account of John Steinbeck’s actual “Charley†trip.
