Twisted Roots Carmel Valley Tasting Room

Celebrates National Wine Day Saturday, May 25th

Raise your glass and toast National Wine Day on Saturday May 25th at Twisted Roots Carmel Valley Tasting Room at Lyons Head Gallery, 12 Delfino Place in the heart of the valley. On Saturday, May 25th from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. all wine tasting is free! Now that is something to celebrate!

Here are five fun facts for National Wine Day!

--> · The longest recorded champagne cork flight was 177 feet and 9 inches, four feet from level ground at Woodbury Vineyards in New York State.

--> · Thomas Jefferson helped stock the wine cellars of the first five U.S. presidents and was very partial to fine Bordeaux and Madeira.

--> · Chilling tones down the sweetness of wine. If a red wine becomes too warm, it may lose some of its fruity flavor.

--> · The Irish believe that fairies are extremely fond of good wine.

--> · Foot treading of grapes is still used in producing a small quantity of the best port wines.

Twisted Roots Carmel Valley Tasting Room:

Open Friday through Sunday (11:30 a.m.–5 p.m.), the tasting room will pour wines created from estate grapes on vines first planted in Lodi in 1918. Did you know the winery’s name came from a twisted root that the family dug up from the vineyard?

Tastings are $5 and include four wines:

-2010 Chardonnay, aged in neutral oak and finished with a medium toasted oak finish
2009 Cabernet Sauvignon that won a gold medal in the 2012 California State Fair Competition and best of the Lodi Appellation
2010 Cabernet Sauvignon that won a gold medal in the 2013 San Francisco Chronicle wine competition
2010 Petite Sirah, the family’s flagship wine.
--1918 Old Vine Zinfandel our most popular.
Twisted Roots Information:

At Twisted Roots, we believe in letting the grapes speak for themselves. Partner Josh Ruiz, representing partners Ross Schmiedt and Mike Hodge, stated that, “We feel that our work in the vineyard is the genesis for the flavor and overall complexity of our wines. As Lodi

Certified Green Growers we follow sustainable farming practices throughout the entire winemaking process. “

For every bottle sold, Twisted Roots donates a portion of the proceeds to the ALS Foundation for research into ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Our partner and creator of the Twisted Roots brand is afflicted with ALS. Additionally, Twisted Roots donates money to MEarth and its Hilton Bialek Habitat at Carmel Middle School. As Josh said, “Twisted Roots wants to make good quality wine and give back to their communities."

Both Mission Ranch and Tarpy's Roadhouse serve Twisted Roots wines. And, of course, you can have a full tasting right in Carmel Valley (831-594-8282) or in Lodi by appointment (916-300-2416).
