Students of all ages that are blind and low vision, their families and professionals are invited to join Guide Dogs for the Blind and LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired for our first day long Travel Symposium consisting of presentations, activities and social gathering focused on connecting people that are blind or have low vision with resources, equipment, mentorship for all sorts of important topics related to travel.
The Symposium will start with a light breakfast and keynote address before our morning breakout sessions.  These morning breakout sessions will have two tracks, one dedicated to travel tips and tricks and the other about the innovative Guide Dog Immersion program hosted by LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired and Guide Dogs for the Blind. After lunch guest will get the chance to explore a travel resource fair that will include some of the following topics; Canes Canes and more Canes, Guide Dog Lifestyle, GPS and other applications that can assist with travel, T-Map Project and tactile images with Mad Lab and some much more. Through the day students will get the chance to meet other peers and mentors that can share advice and their experiences traveling around the bay, around the country and around the world.  The afternoon programming will conclude with a social celebrating White Cane Day and a drawing for some really awesome door prizes.
Who: student that are blind or have low vision as well as their families, teacher and other professionals that work with those that are blind or have low vision
