Traditional White Crane Kung Fu Saturdays in Noe Valley

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us Saturday mornings in Noe Valley to learn traditional Indonesian White Crane Kung Fu in a friendly, supportive environment. Learn more at http://pgbsf.org/.
Do you need previous martial arts experience?
All levels of experience, body types, and conditioning welcome! Feel free to jump in right away, though we encourage you to visit and watch a class before joining. How much does it cost?
The first class is free, and first month is 50% off. Then it's $60/month (~15$/class). Typically we have class 4 times a month but are closed for major holidays. Note: monthly dues allow you to visit any PGB class in the Bay Area at a discount of $5/drop-in. Financial assistance may be available upon request. To inquire, email us at [email protected]. What do I wear?
Loose fitting workout clothes that you don't mind getting a little dirty on the floor. What's a typical class like?
Each class you can roughly expect a schedule that looks like:

Cardio / jogging outside
Lots of stretching
Lively warm ups / conditioning
Short movements (often called "forms" in other styles)
Tumbling
Partner work
Sparring and Long Movements (sequences of short "forms")
Post-class lunch/beers/tea and social time on 24th st!

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
You can email us at [email protected].
About Us
PGB White Crane (Bangau Putih) Kung Fu is the signature self-defense art of the Persatuan Gerak Badan (PGB; Unification of Body Movement) school in Bogor, Java, Indonesia. Our style of "kung fu"--more accurately, kuntao--traces it's lineage back to the Shaolin, Wudang, and Shandong temples of ancient China. The building blocks of our system are short movements incorporating a variety of strikes, blocks, kicks, and sweeps. Short movements are combined into choreographed long movements that train balance, timing, and grace. Long movements are classified into different systems associated with animals, plants, other natural phenomena, and legendary figures. Partner work includes sensitivity and spatial awareness exercises, self-defense applications, and sparring.
