LA Gears, Spice Girls, and Tamagotchi’s, oh my! Totally 90’s is taking over Polk St on Saturday, August 19th hosted by 90’s Nickelodeon star, Kel Mitchell (Kenan and Kel, Good Burger).
Ten area bars will play host to 90’s revelers, including popular watering hole Maye’s Oyster House and 90’s sing-along destination, Jackalope. Many participants are expected to arrive dressed in 90’s themed outfits or as their favorite 90’s characters.
Kel Mitchell, made famous by his 90’s roles on Nickelodeon’s All That and Kenan & Kel, as well as the feature film, “Good Burger,” is slated to host the festivities. “Good Burger” is celebrating its twentieth anniversary, originally released on July 25, 1997. Kel is scheduled to host a meet & greet for VIP ticket holders, 12pm - 2pm, followed by appearance at various participating venues throughout the event.
Similar to a scavenger hunt, Totally 90’s bar crawlers will be challenged to visit every featured venue. Those that finish the list before 9pm are rewarded with a Totally 90’s T-shirt. Although all participants must be 21 years of age, drinking is 100% optional during the event.
“We’re bringing it back to the days when TRL ruled MTV and Backstreet Boys were #1,” says Peter Altholz, event organizer. “It’s a fun event for the neighborhood, and lets 20 and 30-somethings relive the nostalgia with one of their favorite 90’s TV icons”
Registration for General Admission participants is 2pm - 4pm at Maye’s Oyster House (1233 Polk St). The event ends at 9pm.
