THRIVE: Leading Through Change
A Conversation with Alex Stoll, Head of Global Sales Operations for HP Inc.
Thursday, February 23, 2017
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
San Francisco, CA
Alex Stoll says his job is to sell billions of dollars of products nobody really wants but everyone needs — PCs and printers. He works in a highly competitive, low margin, commodified world and yet, Alex says, he’s found enormous room for innovation. Over the past eighteen months, HP Inc. has completed its breakaway from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, become a “$50b startup,” jumped into the 3D printing market and are transforming its culture, processes, products and partnerships with the thousands of companies that sell its products.
In conversation with Free Range’s Jonah Sachs, Alex will share his perspectives on how the art of selling is changing in a world of rapidly accelerating customer expectations, opportunities for collaboration and product obsolescence. He’ll also tell a few stories about how global Fortune 50 company learns to accept, adapt to and even thrive in a much less friendly landscape than it knew just a few years ago.
About THRIVE: Leading Through Change
THRIVE is a series of conversations with founders, leaders and changemakers presented by Babson College, Leiden University Centre for Innovation and Free Range. We explore the techniques and mindsets they’ve relied on to adapt and grow in an age of constant disruption. Each conversation reveals the personal struggles, setbacks and breakthroughs these innovators have experienced — revealing stories rarely heard from inside some of the world’s most admired purpose-driven companies.
There will be 10 live events in the THRIVE series in 2017 occurring on the last Thursday of each month. There will be additional podcast interviews with executives from startup to F50, along with articles and tools, available on the THRIVE media platform at thrive.freerange.com (launching in early February).
