Award-winning playwrights present their newest 10-minute plays in this popular annual event at the Fair. “Darwin Meets God” by Ollie Welch takes place in Heaven. David Hirzel’s “The Trial of Michel Terrehaute,” based on a true story, looks at justice and injustice in the Canadian wilderness in 1821. In “What Am I Going to Do Now?” from Teresa LeYung-Ryan’s “Talking to My Dead Mom” series, a beyond-middle-age woman is at a loss when her therapist goes on vacation.
David Hirzel has written extensively about polar exploration and the sea. His Terra Nova Press launches a new nonfiction book “Rough Weather All Day” (a firsthand account of Arctic exploration) at the Fair. Hirzel designs homes for sustainable living and writes from Sky Ranch overlooking the sea in Pacifica.

Ollie Mae Trost Welch is a poet, memoirist and playwright who grew up on a farm in the Ozarks. "Darwin" is from her series of one-act plays about great personalities who doubted the existence of God. Her play “Shaw” took six awards at the 2012 Fringe of Marin Fall Festival.
