Cofounders Sam Butarbutar and Wenter Shyu announced that Third Culture Bakery will present Foodie Talks, a new event series featuring intimate conversations with local chefs, food leaders, and entrepreneurs, benefitting nonprofits in the San Francisco Bay Area. On Sunday, July 21, 1 – 3 p.m., at CIEL Creative Space (2611 Eighth Street, Berkeley), Third Culture Bakery will host the inaugural event: a panel discussion featuring James Beard nominated and Bravo Top Chef Season 15 Chef Tu David Phu, Storyteller and Co-founder of Mavencook Ingrid Goesnar, and Founder of Mustache Bakery and Noble Folk Ice Cream Christian Sullberg. Tickets range in price from $15 – $75 and are available now at julyfoodietalks.eventbrite.com. All proceeds benefit 1951 Coffee Company, an organization that provides job training and relocation support to refugees and asylees in the Bay Area.
As Third Culture Bakery celebrates cross-cultural hybrid identities through its pastries, the panelists discuss how their identity and culture has shaped their relationship with food, and their hopes for the future of the industry. Guests will indulge in Bahn Mi and bites from Chef Tu David Phu’s upcoming concept Bahn Mi Ni, and desserts and beverages from Third Culture Bakery.
