Artist Bio:

Hello! I am Allison Torneros (formerly Paperboogie), artist/designer/entrepreneur born in 1985 and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. A graduate of UCLA with a degree in Design | Media Arts. I began drawing at age 2, and built my first website when I was 11. When I'm not working on client designs, I'm dissecting my heart out onto pieces of wood and paper and exhibiting at art shows around the country. I own CircleDot Creative LLC,which focuses on design for the entertainment, music, and fashion industry markets. I'm also co-founder of Koan Clothing Ltd. I recently was a contestant on MTVu's The Engine Room, a competition pitting 16 international digital artists against each other in creative challenges. And I run PaintByWord.com, a blog that allows me to collaborate with others, using words as concepts for my illustrations.

My biggest influences are comics/anime, graffiti art, music cover art, fashion, the paranormal, and religious Romanesque and Gothic art. In my current body of work, the use of bold texture and rhythm aim to create a psychedelic experience inspired by dreamscapes and the capacity of human consciousness. Many times I approach the creation process by letting the paint do the 'talking'-- by throwing around paint and other materials onto the canvas in an unpredictable manner and leaving it to dry overnight, I later begin drawing based on what I see in the random composition, allowing the work to emerge on its own.
