The Marsh presents a new talk The Wave: One Week to Fascism, featuring Bay Area teacher and storyteller Ron Jones and The Marsh’s Artist in Residence Marc Montserrat-Drukker, moderated by former on-air KRON-TV host Barbara Lane. As part of the “Marsh Talk series,†Jones will discuss “The Third Wave,†his fascist regime and environment experiment at a Palo Alto high school while teaching a history class on the Holocaust, and how his short story describing this classroom experiment in the Whole Earth Review resulted in works including from a novel, documentary, movie, and several plays, including The Marsh’s Youth Theater musical in 2009. Montserrat-Drukker will share the importance of Jones’ experiment, his adaptation of Jones’ story into a play called La Ola (The Wave) selected by Spain theatre critics as one of its Top 10 theatre productions of the year, and how it became what Montserrat-Drukker has deemed his life’s work.
