Never seen a Kathak solo before? This is what the NY Times had to say about our last Kathak solo event.

The Voice Within features veteran kathak artist Seibi Lee in an intimate exploration of duality and paradox as encountered in the course of navigating personal and cultural identity. Lee renders two ancient stories in the traditional kathak style - Houyi and Chang'e, a heart rending Chinese story about the love between a mortal hero and an immortal beauty, and Yuki no Onna, a Japanese tale exploring the legend of the mysterious Snow Woman. Both stories evoke the universal experience of longing. Lee instructs us to embrace the beauty of this longing. Her personal journey - navigating her mixed Chinese and Japanese heritage and her love of Western and Eastern classical art - is expertly interwoven throughout the two stories. In her own life it is the acceptance of duality and yearning that has enabled Lee's authentic and singular voice to emerge. The Voice Within is both personal and imaginal, showing us all the power of embarking on the journey to find one's own true voice.

Accompanying Lee will be critically acclaimed musicians Jayanta Banerjee (sitar), Ben Kunin (sarod), Jay Gandhi (bansuri), and Satyaprakash Mishra (tabla). Don't miss the exclusive Artist Talkback directly following the performance featuring an interactive Q&A session with the artists.

Seating is limited. Get your tickets now!
