Dr. Beatriz Caiuby Labate will discuss the use of psychoactive plants in the Americas, in connection to shamanism, ritual and religion.
Labate (Bia Labate) is a queer Brazilian anthropologist living in the Bay Area, scholar, educator, researcher and published author. Labate has a Ph.D. in social anthropology from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, and is the Founder and Executive Director of Chacruna.net.
