The Unburied: A Poetics of Indigenous Memory and Movement

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join Aunt Lute Books for "The Unburied: A Poetics of Indigenous Memory and Movement” with San Francisco Poet Laureate Kim Shuck and award-winning Texas-based author, ire'ne lara silva!

This summer we reflect on the role of poetry as a tool to heal; as a tool to commune with the dead as we world-build for the future. We're so excited to have Kim Shuck and ire'ne lara silva read and join us for a dialogue at Alley Cat Books!
This event is free to the public. Alley Cat Books is ADA accessible.

Event hosted by Aunt Lute Books (www.auntlute.com).

Kim Shuck embraces the fool and jester qualities of being a modern poet and artist. She is a devotee of San Francisco, whose hills she wanders nearly always on foot. She is a poet, weaver, educator, doer of piles of laundry, planter of seeds, traveler and child wrangler. Her ancestors were and are Tsalagi, Sauk and Fox and Polish, for the most part. Kim currently also works with students at the California College of Art in the Diversity Department. In June of 2017 Kim was named the 7th poet laureate of San Francisco.

ire’ne lara silva is a Texas-based author of two poetry collections, furia (Mouthfeel Press, 2010) and Blood Sugar Canto (Saddle Road Press, 2016), which were both finalists for the International Latino Book Award in Poetry, an e-chapbook, Enduring Azucares (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2015), as well as a short story collection, flesh to bone (Aunt Lute Books, 2013), which won the Premio Aztlán. She and poet Dan Vera are also the co-editors of Imaniman: Poets Writing in the Anzaldúan Borderlands (Aunt Lute Books, 2017).
