The familiar story: When novice Maria proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is sent away from the convent to serve as a governess for the seven Von Trapp children. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of their stern widowed father The Captain, and they marry.
