Ancient mystical traditions such as the Sufis created sacred movement rituals and practices to bring the participant into an ecstatic state. Somatic science is a sensory journey of being human, witnessing the mechanism of our aliveness and its relationship to our environment. We will focus and play with elements of the body, brain, movement, gravity, breath, emotion, voice, space and creativity. The ancient mystics called this practice trance, ecstasy or bliss where ultimate healing, recharging and understanding of the Self in physical and psychic levels occurs.
We activate the creative flow to express and unload any unprocessed emotions that has been stored. This has an extremely calming effect on our nervous system and it frees us from anxiety and depression. Therefore, we can relate to self & others authentically, creating a very fulfilling experience of intimacy and connection in a modern world that has lost its roots.
Somatic Science, recapitulates ontogeny via developmental body movements, bringing you in touch with your roots,, thereby enabling primal awareness beneath the neo-cortex. The potential trance states induced reflect the alpha-state entrainment of repetitive/ritual movements enabling one to bypass the traumas typically stored in the temporal lobes as evidenced by hypervigilance.
