THE SMUGGLER
By Ronán Noone
Directed by Johnny Moreno
September 25 - October 13, 2024

Ronán Noone's THE SMUGGLER is a one-man thriller in rhyme. It's 2023. Tim Finnegan is an Irish immigrant trying to make it as a writer on Amity, an affluent summer colony in Massachusetts, where tensions flare between the migrant and local communities after a fatal car crash. When he loses his job as a bartender, Tim gets drawn into the dark underbelly of the island. THE SMUGGLER examines how far one man will go to restore his self-respect and asks the question, "What does it mean to be an American citizen today?"

"A gripping and poetic tour de force--storytelling at its finest." --CHICAGO TRIBUNE

"Irish American playwright Ronán Noone's THE SMUGGLER is a powerful, gripping migration manifesto in the pursuit of the American Dream. Written in verse, it offers a unique and poetic lens on migration, identity, and the quest for opportunity and self-respect. In today's world, where migration and identity are at the forefront, this play resonates deeply. Our incredible cast and creative team brings this timely, thought-provoking story to life, making it the perfect moment for audiences to experience and reflect on what it truly means to strive for opportunity," says Artistic Director Randall King.
