Medical research with psychedelic substances in clinical trials around the world is demonstrating astounding results. The therapeutic potentials of compounds such as ayahuasca, ibogaine, psilocybin, MDMA, and ketamine are being explored as treatment for conditions such as PTSD, depression, addiction, end of life anxiety and more. Entheogenic plants and fungi have been used by humans around the world for millennia to facilitate access to non-ordinary states of consciousness and healing. Through a look at indigenous traditions, proposed mechanisms of therapeutic action, and scientific research this talk explores the potential that psychedelics hold for the future of medicine.
