SEE EVENT DETAILS
If you would like to purchase tickets to the conversation with Mario Martinez on Friday, October 26th, click here.
This workshop meets on Saturday, October 27th, 2018, 10am-5pm (How We Learn Illness & Wellness), and on Sunday, October 28th, 2018, 10am-5pm (How Culture Teaches Us Longevity). Single day tickets available.
What if, rather than being genetically sentenced with family illnesses, we have the capacity to change how our genes impact our health? Clinical neuropsychologist, Mario Martinez believes the key to health and longevity lies in how our brains learn to culturally perceive the world. Using the latest research in cultural neuroscience and psychoneuroimmunology, Dr. Martinez explains why our cultural beliefs are more powerful than our genes, and demonstrates how these belief systems set us up for illness and self-sabotaging behavior.
Discover how to shift your consciousness to learn longevity, and trigger the causes of health, at any age. This workshop offers practical tools for discerning where we hold conflict and imbalance in our bodies and how we can heal.
You can choose to take one or both days of this workshop.
Day One: How We Learn Illness and Wellness

Dr. Martinez introduces and explains the theory and practice of mindbody science and how wellness is learned. Discover how the immune system has morals and how the brain interprets the ethical beliefs we learn from our cultures, and transduces them to the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems. Find out how illnesses like fibromyalgia and gastrointestinal disorders are learned, and how to reverse their effects. Dr. Martinez demonstrates how we teach our body dysfunctional lessons that trigger genetic predispositions for illnesses in addition to ways we can learn wellness-consciousness to promote healing and maintain optimal health
Day Two: How Culture Teaches Us Longevity
Contrary to popular belief, genetic endowment accounts for only 20-25% of healthy longevity. The rest is culturally learned. Rituals, time perception, and life philosophies are powerful immune enhancers that can minimize and reverse the aging process. Dr. Martinez shares how longevity can be learned—at any age—beyond our genetic endowment. Learn anti-aging and aging-reversal techniques as well as rituals practiced by healthy centenarians.

Mario Martinez is a US clinical neuropsychologist who specializes in how cultural beliefs affect health and longevity. He proposes, based on mindbody research evidence, that longevity is learned and the causes of health are inherited. He has studied healthy centenarians (100 years or older) worldwide and found that only 20-25% can be attributed to genetics—the rest is related to how they live, and the cultural beliefs they share. Dr. Martinez is the author of the bestselling book The MindBody Code: How to Change the Beliefs that Limit Your Health, Longevity, and Success that teaches his theory and practice of biocognitive science to the general public. In addition to longevity, he teaches in his latest bestseller, The MindBody Self: How Longevity is Learned and the Causes of Health Are Inherited, why our immune system is not just a protector. Instead, it responds to the cultural premises we learn to perceive the world.
