The Just In Case Woman

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Just In Case Woman dance installation explores the relationship between survival and the search for safety in the 21st century. The installation is an array of chambers that will explore the changing roles, responsibilities and expectations of women in our fast paced, complex, and unsteady world. This installation invites audience members to deconstruct personal survival and the search for safety through a critical lens-- looking at how women are impacted by the broader economic and social systems that govern society. This installation highlights how these systems prioritize production and consumerism over creativity, nature, time, and community, thereby creating a life out of balance. The Just in Case Woman installation celebrates the skills, strength and power of women to restore balance to their lives and families despite external pressures.

The audience is encouraged to interact with 3-D objects, videos animations, audio soundscapes, and live dance pieces while reflecting on their personal experiences related to safety. The installation itself seeks to provide a healing space, a place to nurture creativity and recovery in a shared environment.

The dance-installation will include live performance during the first week, June 17-19 at 8 pm, with maximum capacity of 35 people per night. Show duration 50 minutes. Contact me if you need a reduced price ticket.

From June 24 to July 17 the event will be offered as a guided experience and the dance pieces presented only in video format. Guided installation on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00pm (duration approximately 40 minutes).
