Synopsis:
The Conference’s Mission is to educate and empower people in the San Francisco Bay Area regarding the plight of animals in mainland China and Taiwan with a goal of inspiring more US action and resources support for the animals, animal advocacy groups and activists on these regions.

Speakers:
Hear leading animal advocates provide updates on the good news of what's changing as well as what help is still needed to support animals in mainland China and Taiwan. Speakers are from around the world--including:

◊ Dr. Peter Li, China Policy Consultant of Humane Society International (HSI) will address current animal welfare concerns and challenges in China
◊ Xie Zheng, Founder of Don't Eat Friends will speak about the growing vegan movement as well as future challenges in China.
◊ Tseng Hong Chu of the Environment and Animal Society of Taiwan (EAST) on what needs to be done to address the growing factory farming industry in Taiwan
◊ Paula Burton, US Director of Animals Asia Foundation, will focus on their efforts to end bear bile farming and make zoos and safari parks more humane, in addition to humane animal welfare education in mainland China.
◊ Hailey Chang of PETA Asia will update on their efforts to stop fur farming which is 1/2 of all fur imported to the US
◊ Andrea Gung, Exec. Dir. of Duo Duo Animal Welfare Project, will update on the efforts of the "Stop the Yulin Dog Meat Festival" and efforts by local groups and international organizations to end the dog and cat meat trade in China, as well as the organization’s work in Taiwan.

This event is cosponsored by: Humane Society International, Golden Gate University Law School, GGU Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, GGU Student International Law Society & Northern California Animal Advocacy Coalition as well as additional sponsors soon to be announced

$25 General Registration and $10 for low income and students includes snacks, drinks and lunch.
