Cultural powerhouses PARADOX Media and Vau de Vire announce the return of the all-ages Edwardian Ball to The Regency Ballroom.
The Edwardian Ball has blossomed from an underground club event into an internationally renowned, immersive and participatory festival of the arts. Complete with mesmerizing stage shows, interactive art, immersive performances, an extensive, an artisan Vendor Bazaar, The Museum of Wonders, and an exquisite Grand Ballroom, The Edwardian Ball invites thousands of costumed revellers to join together to create an imagined "Edwardian" wonderland.
"We began with a simple story, etched in pen and ink, impossibly dark and humorous. We read the tale over the sounds of a classical jazz cabaret, showing slides on the wall with a slide projector! Who knew what it would become over the next two decades? A literary pilgrimage that is co-created by those that attend... this year is shaping up to be one of most exciting and thematic we have ever brought forth!" says Justin Katz, co-founder and Director of PARADOX Media.
From the moment they arrive, attendees are whisked into a mesmerizing neo-Edwardian era with author, illustrator, and patron saint of the event - Edward Gorey - underpinning the curation of the experience. Each year, one of Gorey's tales is selected as the central theme of the event, with this year's story being his tableaux classic, 'The Object-Lesson'.
"The Edwardian Ball challenges expectations around what's possible in one night" explains Mike Gaines, Director of Vau de Vire. "Music, theatre, circus, art, fashion, oddities, performances, vending, and dance all collide to create another world. There's really nothing else like it in the world."
The Edwardian Ball is presented over two nights, with both Friday and Saturday offering the full experience. Ticket options are available for one or both nights, discount youth tickets available for Friday night.
