The Dorian's Whiskey Society Event Series Returns With March 6 Tasting

The Dorian in San Francisco's Marina District will mark the 2019 return of their Whiskey Society tasting series by hosting a March 6 Laphroaig event that will begin at 7:00 p.m. and feature guest speaker Vanessa Parker who will discuss the distillation process and history and flavor profiles. For $25.00, guests will be able to enjoy an opening cocktail, the Laphroaig Project with Laphroaig 10 Year, followed by a flight with The Islays: Bowmore 15 Year, Laphroaig 10 Year, Laphroaig Quarter Cask and Laphroaig Lore, along with food pairings of blue cheese, dried apricots and dark chocolate. Tickets are available via dorianwhiskeysociety.eventbrite.com. Questions can be answered by emailing to [email protected].

Renowned for being the world’s richest single malt scotch, Laphroaig’s award-winning family of whiskies are the product of a 200-year-old tradition of unique whisky making. The Kilbride Stream, hand-cut peat, floor malted barley, cold-smoking kilns, mash tuns, copper alchemy and the subtlety of oak aging give Laphroaig a smoky, peaty taste that is highly appreciated by whisky drinkers and blenders.

Always offered at The Dorian is their shared-plate classic American fare including award-winning burgers. The restaurant's beverage program features a mix of classic, contemporary and original cocktails including hand-crafted martinis and an extensive array of whiskeys. Among the fifty or so wines by the bottle are both domestic and imported vintages. Locally sourced craft beers are also available. Not to be missed is the restaurant's Happy Hour, Tuesday through Friday from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., featuring $1.00 oysters and half-off bottles of rosé and champagne.

Designed by Shelly Amoroso, The Dorian evokes a Victorian home at the turn of the last century with rich colors and textural wallpapers, mixed with brass and concrete surfaces. Built in-panels with hand-sourced antique artifacts and art, and a chandelier all bring a sense of charm and fun to the restaurants three distinct spaces. The main bar area, with brass accents and a teal and purple color scheme, is anchored by a prominent whiskey display while upstairs, the study incorporates leather and dark wood. Seating options include banquettes, booths and a round settee.

The Dorian is located at 2001 Chestnut Street, at the corner of Fillmore Street, in San Francisco, California. The restaurant serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Specific hours of operation, special features and news are available on the restaurant's web site, https://www.doriansf.com, and by following @thedoriansf on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Reservations are accepted online via the web site, through OpenTable.com, and by calling (415) 814-2671.
