The Dorian Restaurant in San Francisco to Host Kentucky Derby Viewing Party on May 4
The Dorian in San Francisco's Marina District will be hosting their fourth annual "The Winner's Circle" Kentucky Derby viewing party on Saturday, May 4 from noon to 5:00 p.m. There will be no cover charge (with an RSVP) and in the spirit of “exuberant fashion, sporting tradition, indulgent food, abundant booze, lively music and carousing,” guests will be able to enjoy Derby sippers such as a classic Mint Julep, plus other specialty cocktails, a costume contest, big-screen race viewing, and live music. In addition, there will be a $65.00 VIP hosted mint julep and champagne bar upstairs in The Study. Derby attire is highly encouraged. The Dorian's shared-plate classic American fare including ward-winning burgers from Executive Chef Lee Levig Jr. will be available and the restaurant's beverage program features a mix of classic, contemporary and original cocktails including hand-crafted martinis and an extensive array of whiskeys. Among the fifty or so wines by the bottle are both domestic and imported vintages. Locally sourced craft beers are also featured.
Designed by Shelly Amoroso, The Dorian evokes a Victorian home at the turn of the last century with rich colors and textural wallpapers, mixed with brass and concrete surfaces. Built in-panels with hand-sourced antique artifacts and art, and a chandelier all bring a sense of charm and fun to the restaurants three distinct spaces. The main bar area, with brass accents and a teal and purple color scheme, is anchored by a prominent whiskey display while upstairs, the study incorporates leather and dark wood. Seating options include banquettes, booths and a round settee.
