The Changing San Francisco Landscape: How much is too much?
John King is the San Francisco Chronicle’s urban design critic, a beat that covers architecture, planning and related issues in the Bay Area — from the design of major towers to the cultural impact of rooftop plazas.  This year, he is also focused on the region’s need to prepare for sea level rise.  King, a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, joined The Chronicle in 1992 and spent time in the paper’s bureau at San Francisco City Hall and as a suburban columnist before creating his current post in 2001. His most recent book, “Cityscapes 2: Reading the Architecture of San Francisco,†was published by Heyday in the fall of 2015. Â
