Magic Theatre and Campo Santo present The Boiling: A Tale Of American Nihilism by Sunhui Chang, directed by Ellen Sebastian Chang, in the theater in Building D, Third Floor at Fort Mason Center For Arts and Culture.
The Boiling tells the story of a Korean American adoptee, Brian, a virologist from the Midwest, and a former homicide detective, Vee, a Black woman in the Pacific Northwest. The unlikely two are partnered to "trace and track" from the North to the South, David, a white nihilistic carrier of a feverish virus called "the boiling." The search reveals the intersections of science, identity, homeplace, and birding within an American landscape of the histories and traditions of redemptive violence.
