Dark wood, marble, brick, and a fireplace give this five-week-old Redwood City joint the feel of a former living room. Upscale but low-key staff makes it a friendly neighborhood spot. They’re still developing the cocktail menu, but the drinks Balcksmith’s working with, divided into “Seasonal” and “Americana,” are excellent. From the Seasonal column try “Cinder & Smoke,” the perfect balance of sweet grapefruit and seriously smoky Mezcal. In the Americana category sip a Sazerac or a Versper Martini. Although they’re already up and running they’ll celebrate with a grand opening shortly.
