Bay Area Science Festival Brings Renowned Minds and Theatrics to The Moth Mainstage for Insightful Storytelling

‘MythBusters’ Host Adam Savage Joins Luminaries Set for the Stage October 28

SAN FRANCISCO – Science and drama rarely run in the same circles. However, on Monday, October 28, The Moth Mainstage will feature The Moth: The Big Bang, where five of the science and technology world’s greatest minds will come together for some serious – and hilarious – theatrics. The special presentation is an entertaining and enlightening facet of the third annual Bay Area Science Festival.

Set in The Moth’s signature storytelling format, The Discovery Channel’s MythBusters host and cinematic special effects designer Adam Savage will join the cast, which includes biophysicist Christof Koch and Congressional Aide-turned-theater artistic director Gil D. Reyes. Led by the show’s host, acclaimed author Dan Kennedy, the storytellers will embark on an evening of their own reenacted true stories, packed with educational insights and humor.

“Anyone who has ever dreaded sitting through another boring scientific lecture will be thrilled to gain insights into the inner workings of the world around us during this truly entertaining show,” says Kishore Hari, BASF director. “The Moth show is yet another vehicle through which the Bay Area Science Festival strives to make experts in science and technology accessible and relatable to everyone.”

The Moth's Producing Director, Sarah Austin Jenness adds, "We're thrilled to partner with the Bay Area Science Festival and bring these unique stories to the stage in Berkeley. We hope that this Moth Mainstage on October 28th is the first of many future collaborative efforts between our organizations."

The Moth Mainstage features stories by luminaries in the arts and sciences, newsmakers and news breakers, and everyday heroes (and even a few reformed villains!). Each show features five storytellers who develop and shape their stories with The Moth's directors. Beyond a mere theatrical experience, The Moth is an ever-growing community where entertainment, enlightenment and festivity merge.
