After successful launches in the UK and China in 2014, and sold-out academies in NY in 2015 and 2016, the ARMAGNAC ACADEMIES makes its debut in SAN FRANCISCO on Monday, May 22, 2017.
Immerse yourself for an entire day in the world of Armagnac. Learn about the region, the soils, the grapes, the production, distillation and maturation techniques employed in the region. Discover its producers and its diversity of styles.
Your day of learning will culminate with a short exam. Successful candidates earn an official Bureau National Interprofessionnel de l’Armagnac (B.N.I.A.) Certified Qualification, issued directly from France.
Armagnac might be the oldest spirit in France yet it remains a mystery to drinks professionals and aficionados alike.
In recognition that there is still a great lack of knowledge of this fine AOC/AOP brandy within the drinks industry, the Bureau National Interprofessionnel de l’Armagnac (B.N.I.A.) launched an educational program known as Armagnac Academies in 2014.
This first Armagnac Academy offered in San Francisco, will be presented by Amanda Garnham, Press Attaché for the B.N.I.A. for the last 13 years and lead instructor for the Armagnac Academies in NY, London, and Beijing. She will be supported by H. JOSEPH EHRMANN, spirits educator and pioneering bartender, mixologist, and owner of Elixir, Elixir To Go and Cocktail Ambassadors and special guest speaker, JASON WILSON, writer, spirits connoisseur and author of Boozehound who will discuss the role that Armagnac should play in any bar, restaurant or retail program.
You will learn about the region, the soils, the grapes, the production, distillation and maturation techniques employed in the region. You will discover its producers and its diversity of styles. You will taste a wide range of Armagnac to illustrate these points, including gems sourced from cellars in Gascony expressly for this event.
Your Armagnac Academy day will entail a full day of intensive learning including lectures, tastings, and a written exam. Successful candidates will earn an official B.N.I.A. Certified Qualification issued directly from France.
Your $150 registration fee includes 6 hours of instruction, a tasting of close to 40 different Armagnacs, 2 half-hour coffee breaks, plus an exam. The schedule includes a 1.5-hour break for lunch, but please note that lunch is not included in the registration fee.
