Welcome to the sixth annual 90-Second Newbery Film Festival—a yearly video contest in which kid filmmakers create weird short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds.
We screen the best movies annually in New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Boston, and many other cities—including San Francisco!
Make your FREE reservation to the SAN FRANCISCO screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by film festival founder and children's author James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) along with author Keir Graff (Matchstick Castle) with special co-host, San Francisco's own Marcus Ewert (Mummy Cat, 10,000 Dresses).
The movies we've received are hilarious, ingenious, and inspiring. We'll be showing movies received from the Bay Area and the best from around the the country!
This year, the San Francisco 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, February 18 from 4-6 pm at the main branch of the San Francisco Public Library (100 Larkin Street) in the Koret Auditorium.
On-site book sales by Books Inc.
Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance.
(Want to make your own 90-Second Newbery? There's still time! Deadline is January 7, 2017. Complete details at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com )
We rely on your donations to keep going. If you like us, please help us out! We run this film festival on a shoestring. No donation is too small. You can make your tax-deductible donation here.
