The 2019 Plaridel Awards, Excellence in Filipino American Journalism

The Philippine American Press Club USA is pleased to host once again the 2019 Plaridel and Torch Bearer Awards. Now on its 8th year, The Plaridel celebrates and acknowledges exceptional Filipino American journalists nationwide in an annual competition as they chronicle the lives and times of the community and the community at large. The Torch Bearer Awards now on its 9th year, honors two extraordinary leaders; one for outstanding community service, and the other to a journalist that has distinguished himself or herself in their field of endeavor. Also, this year the PAPC-SF Journalism Foundation will be present its second grant to an aspiring journalist from High School or College taking a degree in Journalism.
The Filipino American media has been providing news and information to the community as early as the 1900s. At present, total monthly circulation of the combined PAPC media members on print/online/radio and Television approximates 3-Million coast to coast. PAPC is composed of the following publishers: TFC “The Filipino Channel” (ABS-CBN), Asian Journal, FilAm Star, Inquirer.net, Philippine News Today, Power ng Pinoy TV, GMA, Positively Filipino,and the Islander TV Ch37.
