The original documentary that brought Frida Kahlo out from under the shadow of her husband, Diego Rivera, and shared her story with the world. Frida was flamboyant, outrageous, obsessed with the child she couldn't have and, above all, an artist who uniquely captured her life and emotions on canvas. Narrated by the eleven people who knew her best, the film traces a life that wavered on the cutting edge of art and politics during the 1930s. In English with some Spanish/Subtitles.

Adrian Arias wrote the lyrics and created an inspiring video filmed at The Mission Cultural Center, featuring the one and only Mamacoatl's beautiful vocals and 20 different Fridas....the video invites us to appreciate the Frida in every woman!

"Frida in the Mirror" was the WINNER of the BEST OF THE FESTIVAL at Berkeley Video & Film Festival 2009, an Official Selection 52nd San Francisco International Film Festival, 2009 and in Short Film Corner at Cannes Festival 2009.

The original Frida movie directed by Paul Leduc. 1984- 108 minutes

The original full-length movie of the life of Frida Kahlo. The film was produced in Mexico and is said to be "The True Story"…an extraordinary realization by Director Paul Leduc of the life of Frida Kahlo, the most admired Mexican painter in the world. In this drama, Frida's life story is told in surreal deathbed flashbacks resembling her haunting paintings. The actress Ofelia Medina, who portrays Kahlo, bears not only an uncanny resemblance, but shares her mannerisms, her dignity and her feverish passion. Through Frida's eyes we get to know her relationship with the great muralist Diego Rivera, the Russian thinker Leon Trotsky and the intellectual and the artistic life of Mexico at the end of the 1940's. in Spanish with subtitles featuring Ofelia Medina, directed by Paul Leduc. In Spanish with English subtitles
