TechCrunch has decided to create a team and participate in Teach For America’s Challenge for Tomorrow’s Leaders campaign. Team TechCrunch has set a goal of raising $250,000 that will help recruit, train and support at least 50 Bay Area Teach For America corps members. The Teach for America program places many of the best college graduates in teaching programs at low-income schools. Every year the organization is overwhelmed with the number of applicants and only has the funds to put a few teachers out in the field. Team TechCrunch's purpose is to raise enough money to increase the number of Teach for America teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area by 50. This is a contest! The individual, or team, that helps Teach For America fund the most teachers will win an opportunity at the home of the World Champion San Francisco Giants and a table for 10 at Teach For America – Bay Area’s 3rd Annual Benefit Dinner on April 23rd, featuring keynote speaker Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO.If TechCrunch wins, we’ll give those tickets to the people or startup that contributed the most to the Team TechCrunch till. The contest ends on the 18th!
