Taking Humor Writing Seriously

We know when something is funny, but often we don’t know why. In that way, humor can be a mysterious thing, but at its heart, humor is simple. In this workshop, through sample readings, classroom discussion, and in-class writing exercises, students will learn various approaches to bring humor to their writing, generate new ideas, and unravel some of that mystery about what makes people laugh.
Tools and techniques are valuable for any type of humor writing, from essays, to novels, to scripts, to standup. The instructor has done all of them.
This is a sequence of TWO CLASSES, meeting two Saturday afternoons, in downtown Oakland. Each session is about three hours long. Enrollment is limited, so please sign up early. Your fee covers BOTH classes.
