Description

We have a choice as we reach the one year mark of the 2018 presidential election: we can mourn it, or we can flip the script. Our event, “Take Back Nov. 9,” is a chance to come together, dance our faces off, revive our resolve to resist, and invest in our country by getting the power into the right hands. Money raised will go to Swing Left + OFA (Organizing for Action).

We’ll have DJs 8Ball, Dersu, and the Oontz Pouch DJs, visuals by subset, a raffle, art, specialty drinks and dancing..Lots of dancing.

HOW MUCH
$10: early bird tickets (before Oct. 20)
$15: reg tickets

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THESE DJs + VJ!

8BALL: 8Ball aka Josh Damon has been DJing since '96, starting with drum 'n bass and then breaks in underground parties and on the playa. These days 8Ball plays all sorts of genres, from breaks to disco, from old school hip hop to new school funk, rock to electro, and all sorts of stuff in-between. He's one of the founding members of Space Cowboys. He's also one of the producers for the RIPEcast, a weekly podcast of fresh DJ mixes from Space Cowboy DJs and friends.

DERSU: Dersu, from the DJ Duo Peace In Noise, started DJ'ing when he was 15, playing Naughty by Nature and Eiffel 65 at high school dances. Years later he chooses to play house music, inspired by his travels and the incredible network of DJ's and producers here in California. The genre might be different but the dream remains the same, to connect with people through music. With every set, Dersu tells a story and you can expect a journey from the underground clubs of Berlin to the Peruvian Amazon ranging from deep and dark to uplifting and melodic. Dersu is the Design Director of @Vice in Los Angeles and Creative Director of the style/music online magazine @Witness-This and the non-profit monthly party NightCause.

OONZ POUCH DJS: amazing, fun, you’ll love them!

VJ SUBSET: incredibly creative video projection artist. Check out https://www.facebook.com/wearesubset/.

CAN’T ATTEND BUT WANT TO PITCH IN + HELP TAKE BACK THE HOUSE?

We’ve created a special fundraising site through Swing Left to support progressive candidates in 23 congressional districts. We are supporting these districts because each one voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election yet they are currently represented by Republicans.
