Do you love to bake and fika?
You might say yes to the baking part but feel unsure about what "fika" means.
Fika is a concept, a state of mind, an attitude and an important part of Swedish culture. Many Swedes consider it almost essential to make time for fika every day. It means making time for friends and colleagues to share a cup of coffee and a sweet little something to eat.
Please join us for a Swedish Baking Workshop with Swedish native Mia Ahlström on Sunday September 22. You will learn how to make two basic doughs, a cookie dough (Swedish mördeg) and a sweet cardamom/cinnamon bun dough. Kanelbullens Dag (Cinnamon Bun Day) is celebrated on October 4 in Sweden, so you will have plenty of time to become an expert on cinnamon buns before that:)
With the mördeg cookie dough you will make some traditional Swedish cookies like Schackrutor (Chess cookies with cocoa)Kringlor (Crown cookies with Swedish pearl sugar)Finska pinnar (Finnish sticks)
With the sweet cardamom/cinnamon bun dough you will learn several different ways to shape the dough into beautiful buns with different fillings.
We will end the workshop with a yummy Swedish fika!
Workshop ages: adults and 16+
The class will be conducted in English.
