SWAN LAKE
Composer: Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Choreographer: Helgi Tomasson
Black Swan Pas de Deux and Act II Choreography: Lev Ivanov and Marius Petipa
Following a sold-out run in 2016, we proudly present a reprise of Helgi Tomasson’s strikingly modern Swan Lake featuring “choreography that, at its core, is sublime” (The Mercury News). Stunning visual effects, crisp storytelling, and virtuosic dance combine in a work that is as magnificent as it is moving. Performing Odette/Odile in Swan Lake is one of the pinnacles in a ballerina’s career. SF Ballet audiences are fortunate to have so many strong principal women who bring their unique qualities to the roles. Several of them get another chance to show off for you this season. The New York Times called Swan Lake “beautifully lyrical.” You’ll call it simply magical.
Runtime: 2 hours and 33 minutes, including 20- and 15-minute intermissions
