Learn how to take better care of your body during the warmer and more active Summer months through a balanced approach from ancient Yoga and Chinese Medicine perspectives! This workshop includes:
Restorative/Yin yoga practice with light massage
A balancing ear acupuncture treatment*
Seasonal nutrition and lifestyle tips according to Chinese medicine
Connecting these healing modalities will help bring you to a whole new level of rejuvenation, balance and overall wellbeing, and in synch with the natural environment.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Summer is associated with the Fire element, which is connected to the Heart organ. The warmth of the sun powers the world around us, as well as cultivates our inner core. During the summer months, it is more natural for us to be more social, enjoying outdoor activities, parties and time with our community. It is our inner Fire that helps us be more active so we may appreciate all that the external world has to offer. It is therefore beneficial for us to make good use of this Fire by recharging the energy that we consumed during the Winter and Spring months. Like a solar panel that uses the sun's warmth to generate electricity, you can soak in as much sun as possible to generate your body's electric waves by spending much more time outdoors than in previous, cooler months!
In every season, it is important to acknowledge our natural ties to the earth as our home and to honor our physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual needs to be in harmony with the seasons. In this workshop, we will discuss activities, lifestyle and nutritional advice to maintain harmony with our inner Fire and surrounding environments.
Courtney is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and is a licensed and board certified acupuncturist and clinical herbalist. She is also certified massage therapist, registered yoga teacher and trained labor and postpartum doula offering services in San Francisco.
*Auricular acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, which can work to enhance mood, relieve stress, aid in managing addictions, alleviate pain, and promote better sleep. Participants will receive a basic treatment while in final resting pose, savasana.
