Sukhasiddhi Sundays

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us Sunday mornings January 24 to February 28, 2021 for Buddhist practices and teachings in our inclusive online community.

Our Sunday series is an opportunity for both new and experienced practitioners to come together in community. Each Sunday we will offer three segments that offer principles of Buddhist teaching in a down-to-earth and accessible way.

Lama Döndrup will guide you through the teachings, explaining how each practice is built and why its done. Her style of teaching will help you feel confident in your own understanding of ceremonies and teachings and support the natural unfolding of your innate wisdom.

Each Sunday is offered in three segments--choose the segments you wish to attend:

Segment 1: Chenrezig Practice

In the first of three segments, Lama Döndrup will guide us through the Chenrezig practice to help us recognize and access the boundless, unbiased compassion that is our true nature.

Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, is a masculine embodiment of universal, unconditioned compassion. Through visualization, mantra, and silent meditation the Chenrezig practice transforms our distorted view of self and helps us recognize our innate radiant, compassionate nature. Lama Döndrup will lead the practice in a way that supports this recognition and deepens the participants' understanding of the symbolism and meaning of the ritual.

Segment 2: 12 Links of Dependent Origination Teaching

In segment two, Lama Döndrup will offer an in-depth exploration of the Buddhist teaching on dependent origination, which defines our cycle of existence in 12 interdependent steps or links.

We live in a reality in which one moment conditions the next. The way that we approach or respond to any given moment influences our experience of what next arises. Having a genuine understanding of the 12 links of dependent origination allows us to recognize the fundamental cause of our suffering, to see how that suffering is perpetuated, and provides motivation to undertake the practices needed to uproot it. Through imagery, explanation, and inquiry, Lama Döndrup will present this teaching in a way that allows it to be applied to our moment to moment experience as well as our experience from lifetime to lifetime. The application of these teachings can bring a sense of groundedness and direction during a time when the circumstances of our life may seem beyond our control. While we cannot control what arises in our life, we have a choice in how we respond to it and this in turn will flavor our experience of the next moment.

Segment 3: 21 Praises of Tara Practice

In this third segment, Lama Döndrup will lead participants in the 21 Praises of Tara practice meditation which helps one to cultivate a relationship with Green Tara, the feminine embodiment of limitless, nonconceptual compassion.

Green Tara's primary activity is one of protection from fear and danger, and she is committed to responding swiftly the moment that we call upon her. She has 21 manifestations that provide protection in specific circumstances. In this session, Lama Döndrup will be leading the 21 Praises of Tara practice meditation which helps one to cultivate a relationship with Tara and each of her 21 forms through visualization, mantra, and silent meditation. In doing so, we deepen our experience of the divine feminine while simultaneously awakening this quality of compassion that is innate to our being, yet often obscured.
