Sukhasiddhi Sundays

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us Sunday mornings October 11 to November 22, 2020 for Buddhist practices and teachings in our inclusive online community.

Our Sunday series is an opportunity for both new and experienced practitioners to come together in community. Each Sunday we will offer three segments that offer principles of Buddhist teaching in a down-to-earth and accessible way.

Lama Döndrup will guide you through the teachings, explaining how each practice is built and why its done. Her style of teaching will help you feel confident in your own understanding of ceremonies and teachings and support the natural unfolding of your innate wisdom.

Each Sunday is offered in three segments--choose the segments you wish to attend:

Segment 1: 21 Praises of Tara Practice

In the first of three segments, Lama Döndrup will lead us in developing and nurturing our relationship with the embodiment of compassion, Green Tara.

Green Tara is a feminine embodiment of the awakened quality of compassion who is committed to come swiftly the moment that we call to her to ease fear and anxiety and to protect from danger. We will be using the 21 Praises of Tara practice text, which is a beautiful and accessible method to cultivate a relationship with each of the 21 manifestations of Tara. In connecting with Tara and her 21 manifestations, we begin to awaken to the quality of compassion that is innate in our being, yet often obscured. In developing a personal relationship with Tara, we are also developing our relationship to the enlightened feminine aspect of Awakened Mind.

Segment 2: Vajrayana Theory Teachings

In segment two, Lama Döndrup will offer an in-depth exploration of Vajrayana theory and method, the various elements of traditional Vajrayana practices, and the symbology of the imagery and its relation to purification.

Vajrayana practices are brilliantly designed methods to help us uncover awakened qualities that are innate in our being but remain out of our reach because of habitual patterns. They are rich with multiple layers of symbology and engage the practitioner simultaneously at the levels of body, speech, and mind. In these practices, we take the result as the path and assume our awakened nature and engage with other awakened beings through visualization, chanting, mantras, mudras, and music. These teachings will then be applied to the practice of Chenrezig.

Segment 3: Chenrezig Practice

In the third segment, Lama Döndrup will lead participants in applying their knowledge gained in the Vajrayana Theory course to the practice of Chenrezig.

Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, is the embodiment of universal, unconditioned, boundless compassion, which is our true, undistorted nature. Meditating on Chenrezig transforms our distorted view of self to reveal the radiant luminosity we truly are. He is the gateway to and essence of Vajrayana Buddhism.
