SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Rosener House Adult Day Services (see times)
Recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke can save a life and limit severity of stroke.
*Stroke is a disease that affects the arteries leading to and within the brain. It is the No. 5 cause of death and a leading cause of long-term disability in the United States.

*About 795,000 Americans each year suffer a new or recurrent stroke. That means, on average, a stroke occurs every 40 seconds.
*Stroke kills more than 137,000 people a year, about 1 of every 18 deaths.
*On average, every 4 minutes someone dies of stroke.
*About 40 % of stroke deaths occur in males, and 60 % in females.

Presenter: Susan Peloquin is a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), worked for 10 years as an Advanced Practice Nurse at UCSF, and has over 35 years of experience. Sue retired in 2018 from UCSF and maintains a strong interest in neurologically related topics including stroke prevention and treatment.

Rosener House Adult Day Services offers an enriched social and recreational day program in a caring, protective environment. We promote independence and dignity for seniors facing challenges and limitations, including Alzheimer's, dementia, early memory loss, post-stroke, Parkinson's, and other chronic conditions.

Pacific Stroke Association is a local not-for-profit organization whose mission includes reducing the incidence of stroke through education. PSA Stroke lectures are presented by physicians and nurses.
