Summer of Love (50th Anniversary)
Diggers, Hippies, and Victorians
Change your frame of reference and join International Street Photographer David Coleman on a trip back in time to the Summer of Love 1967. David will teach you street photography techniques and visual storytelling skills while using San Francisco’s “The Haight” as a backdrop for powerful visual narratives.
We will make our way down the streets that evolved from quiet byways of the 1880s into the psychedelic and musically-charged setting of the Digger counterculture movement. You will learn local history and explore hidden places that only the most seasoned residents know about.
An (optional) group lunch at the culmination of this 3-hour photography workshop provides the chance to discover delicious local fare, connect with your small group of fellow photographers, and reflect on your experience in the field.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
Three hours of small-group and one-on-one instruction, in which David teaches how to capture a public space and compose a personal narrative with images.
A virtual, one-hour photography critique session (held one week after the workshop), in which David provides constructive feedback and uses Adobe Lightroom to demonstrate best editing techniques for each workshop participant’s photographs.
WORD ON WEATHER: Workshops will take place in the case of light rain—sometimes this makes for the best photographs! In the case of inclement weather, David will send cancellation confirmation at least 24 hours before the workshop. All participants will have the option to exchange for another upcoming workshop or receive a refund.
CANCELLATIONS:If you must cancel, please go to your order confirmation email and click on the “My Tickets” link (it is at the very top right of your confirmation email.) Then click on the event followed by “CANCEL ORDER” on the left hand side. Attendees who cancel their RSVP after Monday, July 24, 8am Pacific will be counted as a no show and their payment will be forfeited.
