Storytelling: Creating Connections that Change the World

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Story is all the rage right now. From The Moth to the Stanford Social Innovation Review Review, everyone is telling us that ‘storytelling’ is the most powerful tool we have to connect and inspire. But what does it mean to craft and share a story that cuts through the noise of today to connect with the depth and authenticity of our humanity?

This is the question we’ll explore in this fast paced experiential learning workshop. Through interactive exercises and peer learning, we’ll delve beneath the surface of simple ‘how-tos’ and examine storytelling as a tool and process that builds connections, fosters incredible community, and invites others to find and share their voices.

Over the course of 90 minutes, we will:

Reconnect with the central role story has played in communities since the first human-types grunted at each other;

Explore the power of storytelling through basic neuroscience and physiological impact ;

Highlight the  process of finding, crafting, and sharing a story;

Learn a simple and shockingly powerful methodology to help others find, share, and realize the power of their stories.

By the end of our time together, we will all have an expanded understanding of what story is and why it is so powerful. Also, we will have fun.

Who is it for?
This workshop is for folks who work in tech, community builders, fundraisers, talent and culture leaders, and any human who finds themself in the position of communicating with other humans. It is appropriate for experienced speakers and storyslingers as well as folks who are curious and just want to learn more. All are welcome!
