Starlight Cinema returns to St. James Park in downtown San Jose with four classic movie favorites and hours of Saturday night family entertainment starting July 1.
At Starlight, fun and games start an hour before the movies begin. Bring a blanket, grab food to go from a nearby eatery and get comfortable for an evening under the stars.
The movie schedule includes:
* July 1: Mean Girls - PG-13, 2004. (games at 7:30 p.m.; movie at 8:55 p.m. ) A down-to-earth student joins a snobby clique in an effort to spy on the popular kids, then begins to act like them.
* July 15: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, PG-13, 1986 (games at 7:30 p.m.; movie at 8:50 p.m.) A high school wise guy is determined to have a day off from school, despite what the principal thinks of that.
* July 29: Moana, PG, 2016 (games at 7 p.m.; movie at 8:40 p.m.). In ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches Moana's island, she answers the ocean's call to seek out the Demigod to set things right.
* Aug. 5: Back to the Future, PG, 1985 (games at 7 p.m.; movie at 8:30 p.m.) Marty McFly, a 17-year-old high school student, is accidentally sent 30 years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his close friend, the maverick scientist Doc Brown.
Enjoy lawn games, face-painting or henna drawings, and other fun provided by community partners and businesses. Grab food and drinks to go from a downtown restaurant or stop by for late-night eats and drinks after the movie. The films are shown between First and Second streets at St. John Street.
