Dear fellow Algerians of Northern California,
On Friday, thousands of fellow Algerians took to the streets to protest the candidacy of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika saying "No to the Fifth Term". A larger protest is planned on Friday and this could be a turning point in Algerian history. Today, Algerian prime minister Ahmed Ouyahia has confirmed the people's constitutional rights to protest in a peaceful way: "Un nombre important de citoyens sont sortis manifester dans plusieurs villes du pays, notamment vendredi dernier. Je rappelle ici que la constitution garanti le droit au rassemblement pacifique, et Dieu Merci, toutes ces manifestations étaient pacifiques"
Today, I'm calling our community to take a stand for what is right, for what is just. While we are not likely to change anything from here, we can still send a message of support and solidarity to the Algerian youth back home.
